I WATCHED VOEVODA FILM BY ZORNITSA SOPHIA – THIS WAY SHOULD START ANY CONVERSATION BEWTEEN FRIENDS IN THE COMMING DAYS. THIS MOVIE IS A MILESTONE EVENT. It needs to be experienced, proclaimed, shared, discussed and remembered. I have no doubt that this will be the case… Slightly mythological, like Haytov’s masterpiece narrative, at the same time it is very realistic, sensuous and full of blood, very much connected with life. Although they did not have a wasteful budget, the film has managed to recreate the spirit of the era, showing ambition and scope.

And a great, great camera by Krum Rodriguez. Incredible casting, unforgettable faces and genuine performances, no overacting or false. Breathless edit, extreme close ups, overdose of authenticity – in costumes, make-up and dialogues. Monumental lack of dialogues and over-explanatory emotions. Zornitsa Sophia is a true Roumena, a real Mountain Queen. Rough, raw, strong-willed and at the same time vulnerable, sensitive.
