Method Acting Class

METHOD ACTING is a TECHNIQUE through which the actor builds EMOTIONAL IDENTIFICATION with the role. It is equally suitable for both professionals and artistic people with an interest in the field. The uniqueness of each participant’s outcome is equal to their own investment of effort, honesty and courage in working with the personal EMOTIONAL BIOGRAPHY and investing it in the process and in the character.

INTENSITY:

3 weeks, 4 days a week (Monday-Thursday), 3 hours a day, a total of 12 hours a week and 36 for the whole class.

When combining morning and evening classes, the “double dose” is 72 hours!

AIM:

You will be tested, returned, provoked and reshaped to bring truth to the roles you embody by basing the character on your personal emotional history. This class is for participants willing to INVEST THEMSELVES in the process, learning methods of using their emotions in both their creative process and their lives.

CLASS STRUCTURE:

Day one: introduction to the Method.

Monday and Wednesday – TECHNIQUE classes.

Tuesday and Thursday – you will play SCENES on a rotational basis, testing your technique and your instrument.

PROCESS:

  • to be vs. to act
  • the instrument: investing yourself in the process
  • working with a director
  • relationships and taking in your partner
  • relating to the author, theme, dramaturgy
  • the psychoanalysis inherent to the Method is not an end, but a means

RESULT:

The PROCESS itself based on how honestly and purposefully the actor works with themselves.

The scenes will be analysed from the point of view of cinema and REALISM: being instead of acting.
